The last day my friends and I spent in San Fransisco we were able to spend the entire day touring the area with our good friends and hosts Josh and Jeremiah. The previous day my friends and I had to venture on our own around the city of SF because Josh and Jeremiah were both working. But, today we had them to ourselves to show us around the city!
We began our day in Berkley, touring the UC Berkley campus. It was large and had a great science center full of dinosaur casts! I have been a die hard fan of dinosaurs since before I cared about Bratz dols. We took in the amazing structures and good vibes and found ourselves back walking around Berkeley. We saw frat houses the size of mansions. We made our way to the nearest boba shop and got some delicious smoothies to enjoy. 🙂
Later that night we toured Haight-Ashbury. Unfortunately, it was too late to go thrifting at 7 p.m., but we did get stop into a Mexican restaurant that served authentic dishes and friendly staff. Walking around the streets of Haight-Ashbury I noticed a lot of punk culture, the look, the drugs, homeless people with creative signs, and old motorcycle men holding hands with modern punk girls. It was a little world of it’s own that night.
We drove by Castro to see the rainbow sidewalks and kinky shop names like, Daddy’s Grill. Thinking about those rainbow sidewalks reminds me of what has happened so recently in Orlando. A true disaster. It’s made me cry every time I see living victim’s talking about the horrors on TV. I really feel for the LGBT community right now. It hurts and throws fear into so many individuals hearts. I love who I love regardless of gender and I believe that is something to stand up for. There is nothing wrong with being a gay or a transgender person. Everyone must unite and stand together strong. SF Gay Pride will be in San Fransisco this weekend, a time for endless celebration of identity and love. I was planning on attending to support the community and my cousin, but summer school is conflicting with that. Anyway, I believe that it is time for a revolution and true respect for our community regardless of race, gender, or spectrum of sexuality. Wow! This randomly got passionate and political, but for real, this is important stuff. We must all be aware and support each other with so much love.
Giving lots of love to my mom’s best friend’s family, their granddaughter lost her best friend when the friend ran back into Pulse to attempt to rescue a friend of hers. Rest in peace girl. <3
Do not live in fear. <3
